Aikido of
The way of Harmony with life-energy &
The non-violent resolution of conflict

After
mastering more than 30 forms of martial arts, Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), developed
a non-violent system of self-defense in the hope that the spirit of his teachings would help bring about peaceful resolution of conflict in the world.

The Way
In
Aikido, there is no competition. Aikido teaches that "True
victory is self victory".
In
a confrontation, Aikido is not used to defeat an attack but to extinguish the
aggression, in oneself and others, and to restore harmony.
Aikido
techniques teach us how to evade an attack and transform it into circular or
spiral motion breaking the balance of the opponent.
An Aikidoist does not block or resist the attacking force, she blends and flows with the force, controlling and redirecting the energy of the attack.

“The Art of
Peace is medicine for a sick world. We
want to cure the world of the sickness of violence, malcontent, and
discord—this is the Way of Harmony.
There is evil and disorder in the world because people have forgotten
that all things emanate from one source.
Return to that source and leave behind all self-centered thoughts, petty
desires, and anger. Those who are possessed by nothing possess everything.” -- Osensei
