True victory is self victory"..........This is the true spirit of Aikido

Aikido training is now available in Truckee

Aikido of Truckee will officially open its Dojo on Thurs Nov 1st 2007

Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art and a way of personal growth.

The guiding principle of Aikido is Harmony:  inner harmony of mind, body and spirit, harmony with other people, and oneness with Nature.  Aikido translates from Japanese as “The way of Harmony with life-energy”.

Aikido is not used to defeat an attacker, but to extinguish the aggression, in oneself and others, and to restore harmony.

Aikido teaches how not to block or resist an attacking force – be it a physical attack, a thoughtless comment from a co worker or a child’s temper tantrum.  Instead, we learn how to blend and flow with the force of the attack, controlling, dissolving and maybe redirecting the energy.

Aikido techniques utilize, and develop, a person’s balance, awareness, and inner strength.  Students of Aikido learn to remain calm in stressful situations, to find alternatives to conflict, and to protect themselves and others.

Aikido has been described as a “philosophy with a physical expression” and “meditation in action”.  As a path of personal development, it is challenging and rewarding on many levels:  physical, psychological, social and spiritual.

Come join us and experience the spirit of Aikido.  We train from 6pm on Thursdays and Sundays at Truckee Parks and Rec, on Church St; and will be offering a Weds beginner class series from Oct 1st Click here
